Ce groupe, c’est avant tout une histoire de rencontres et de voyages. À l’origine, il se forme autour de deux musiciens : Osamu, venu du Japon avec sa guitare et Alice, arrivée de France avec son accordéon. Après quelques premiers pas en Europe, ils parcourent l'Asie en duo, s’inspirant des cultures et des paysages qu’ils découvrent. C’est en Thaïlande que Bamboo Tambourine voit officiellement le jour en tant que trio, avec la renciontre du bassiste Lue Varanon, du groupe reggae Job 2 DO. En 2017, le groupe enregistre et sort son premier album, marquant le début de son aventure musicale.

Rapidement suivra un deuxième album, enregistré en live au cours d'une tournée au Vietnam en 2018 : REC TOUR LIVE. Entre la Thaïlande, le Vietnam et le Japon, les membres du groupe évoluent, les collaborations se multiplient et la musique de Bamboo Tambourine se diversifie. En 2021, le bassiste Daniel Eiland et le batteur Robert Arthur MacKeen rejoignent le groupe, apportant une nouvelle dimension au projet. La musique de Bamboo Tambourine devient plus énergique, flirtant parfois avec des accents rock, tout en explorant des versions électro-acoustiques de leurs morceaux. ils se relocalisent ensemble à Hanoï en 2021 et s'imposent progressivement sur la scène musicale de la capitale, tout en multipliant les collaborations artistiques au Vietnam et au Japon. En 2023, après une tournée épique à travers le Japon avec et l'enregistrement d'un troisième album, Magic Carpet Tour, Osamu et Alice viennent s’installer en France pour ouvrir un nouveau chapître et découvrir la scène musicale française. Ils y rencontrent le percussionniste Karl Dindin, spécialiste de la musique mandinque d'Afrique de l'ouest, qui en rejoignant le projet en 2025 vient enrichir la palette sonore et le métissage de Bamboo Tambourine.

Aujourd’hui, Bamboo Tambourine est connu pour ses performances dynamiques et son style éclectique qui marie avec brio différentes influences musicales. Toujours en quête de nouvelles expériences et de nouveaux sons, le groupe continue de grandir et d’évoluer, prêt à conquérir de nouveaux publics avec leur énergie contagieuse et leur passion pour la scène.

Avec l'album Andromeda (sortie prévue le 12 juin 2026), le groupe franchit une nouvelle étape et affirme pleinement son identité.

This group is, above all, a story of encounters and journeys. It was originally formed around two musicians: Osamu, who came from Japan with his guitar, and Alice, who arrived from France with her accordion. After taking their first steps in Europe, they traveled across Asia as a duo, drawing inspiration from the cultures and landscapes they encountered. It was in Thailand that Bamboo Tambourine officially came into being as a trio, with the meeting of bassist Lue Varanon from the reggae band Job 2 DO. In 2017, the group recorded and released their first album, marking the beginning of their musical journey.

A second album quickly followed, recorded live during a tour in Vietnam in 2018: REC TOUR LIVE. Between Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan, the band members evolved, collaborations multiplied, and Bamboo Tambourine’s music diversified. In 2021, bassist Daniel Eiland and drummer Robert Arthur MacKeen joined the group, bringing a new dimension to the project. Bamboo Tambourine’s music became more energetic, sometimes leaning toward rock influences, while also exploring electro-acoustic versions of their songs. The band relocated together to Hanoi in 2021 and gradually established themselves on the city’s music scene, while expanding artistic collaborations in Vietnam and Japan. In 2023, after an epic tour across Japan and the recording of a third album, Magic Carpet Tour, Osamu and Alice moved to France to open a new chapter and explore the French music scene. There, they met percussionist Karl Dindin, a specialist in West African Mandinka music, who joined the project in 2025 and further enriched Bamboo Tambourine’s sound and cultural fusion.

Today, Bamboo Tambourine is known for its dynamic performances and eclectic style, skillfully blending various musical influences. Always seeking new experiences and new sounds, the band continues to grow and evolve, ready to win over new audiences with their contagious energy and passion for the stage.

With the album Andromeda (scheduled for release on June 12, 2026), the band reaches a new milestone and fully asserts its identity.
